One of the most common ways that we have to save energy in Windows 11 is to make use of the hibernation of the machine since it, after a period of inactivity, which can be configured by us, saves the documents that we are working on and it turns off the hard disks increasing the energy-saving and improving the useful life of the equipment.
What is Hibernate Mode in Windows 11?
When we speak of Windows 11 hibernation, we refer to a state in which our System will save the information that we have active at that moment such as programs, open pages, windows. This state even allows us to be able to disconnect our PC from the electrical current or remove the battery from a laptop since when we turn it back on we will have a brief ignition with all that information intact. If you have to go away for a moment and you have work to finish, this option is the best for a fast lap. Let’s say you save everything you are doing and then turn it off completely, hence without electricity you will not lose anything. The downside to all this is that a normally large file called hiberfil.sys is generated to store this data.
My Windows 11 hibernating PC won’t turn on
Although for desktop computers it is important due to the issue of light consumption, for laptops it is even more important since we depend on a battery that will last more or less depending on the use of the computer. From the type of program we use to the screen brightness, everything influences the energy. If your Windows 11 PC is in hibernation and cannot be turned on, try the following:
Try any of these options to turn on your computer:
- Press any key or slide the mouse, it is something that usually reactivates your PC and waits about 30 seconds for it to come back to itself.
- Press the power button for about 4-5 seconds if you haven’t come to your PC yet. Although in some PC it is the shutdown directly, in most it will restart the computer thus leaving hibernation mode.
- If it still doesn’t work, unplug the power cord or battery for about 5 minutes and then try restarting.
