Windows 10 was supposed to be Microsoft’s last operating system, but here we are being offered two new systems at once? In fact, not entirely true. In this article, we’ll explore the differences between Windows 11 and Windows 365.
In simple words, Windows 11 is a product for all owners of compatible computers. After the release of the new OS, anyone can get it in the form of an update. Windows 365 is a subscription service for businesses. It would be incorrect to call Windows 365 an operating system like Windows 11.
What is Windows 365?
Unlike Windows 11, Windows 365 is a subscription service, not a traditional product. It is not something that you can install or run on your computer. Windows 365 is a service that lets you create and run PCs remotely. It’s kind of like a hybrid of a virtual machine and Microsoft Remote Desktop, and Microsoft itself uses the term “cloud PC”.
With Windows 365, you can create Windows computers on Microsoft servers and then connect to them from anywhere. This computer is still yours – you can install your applications on it and run them normally from anywhere, without the need for a powerful computer. In theory, you can access Windows 365 on your smartphone and do whatever you want from your Windows computer.
Imagine a remote desktop connection when you don’t need a desktop to connect. You just sign in to Windows 365 on any device and choose the computer you want to connect to. It is always available with all your files and applications. You can access it from anywhere without setting up a remote desktop connection or whatever.
In this case, the virtual machine does not use the system resources of your computer. You don’t have to worry about how much RAM and storage space your apps and files are taking up because Windows 365 doesn’t install on your PC.
After the launch of Windows 365, the service will allow you to create cloud PCs with Windows 10 and Windows 11. To use the service, you will have to pay a monthly fee depending on the hardware configuration of your cloud PC. For example, a computer with two processors, 4 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage will cost $ 31 or 2,300 rubles a month. This amount will have to be paid every month in order not to lose access to your cloud PC.
What is Windows 11?
Let’s start with the simplest and tell you about Windows 11. Microsoft announced the new OS, which will be the successor to Windows 10, at an online event on June 24, 2021. It is a completely new operating system and contains many changes, many of which are visual improvements. Windows 11 introduces a new Start menu devoid of live tiles and centred on the screen (although it is possible to move it to the left corner). Almost every application uses rounded corners, has an updated File Explorer interface, and many other improvements.
Windows 11 adds new features such as a new Widgets panel (Widgets) that provides quick access to weather reports, calendar events, and other information. The new system will also support the launch of Android applications and will introduce new chat functionality, which is the result of the integration of the Microsoft Teams messenger right into Windows.
There are new system requirements for Windows 11, which turned out to be quite controversial. For official support, you need a relatively new processor based on the x64 architecture. The 32-bit version of Windows 10 simply doesn’t exist. Also, to install Windows 11, you will need a device with at least 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
This is where the main differences between Windows 11 and Windows 365 emerge. You install Windows 11 on your computer, so your device must meet certain requirements to run it. It is, after all, a traditional operating system. So how is Windows 365 different?
