EMUI is Huawei’s operating system which can be found on Honor devices too. The new version of EMUI or EMUI 12 has started rolling out for global Huawei devices. While it is still rolling out, people are talking about EMUI 13. Will we see EMUI 13 or not? Let’s take a look.
HarmonyOS and EMUI:
Huawei had to face a lot of challenges due to the US sanctions. But the company stood strong despite the brutal US sanctions against it. Due to the sanction of GMS, the Chinese company came up with its own operating system called HarmonyOS. They want to make it the universal OS for all Huawei smart devices like phones, tablets, smartwatches, TVs etc. At the Huawei Developer Conference 2019 (HDC), HarmonyOS 1.0 was announced alongside EMUI 10. Later at HDC 2020, HarmonyOS 2.0 was announced alongside EMUI 11.
Huawei has been planning to operate all its smartphones on Harmony OS with HMS (Huawei Mobile Services). But the goal is not an easy one to achieve. Huawei announced HarmonyOS 3.0 at HDC 2021 but didn’t announce a new version of EMUI or EMUI 12. It was later announced at a launch event. The EMUI 12 update is currently rolling out for global Huawei devices.
EMUI 13 Release Date:
- EMUI 13 could be released in December 2022.
Although all the Huawei devices in China are now running on Harmony OS, global devices are still running on EMUI. This is because global users still cannot use HarmonyOS. This means that Huawei will have to stick to EMUI for global devices for quite some time. Perhaps, we could see a new version of EMUI by the end of this year.
What can we expect from EMUI 13?
There is no information regarding the features of EMUI 13 right now but, as always, we can expect performance improvements and a more battery-efficient OS. EMUI 12 is the most advanced EMUI yet. It provides a very similar experience to the HarmonyOS with the new Control Panel, Notification Panel, new animations, user interface, and performance enhancements.
If Huawei plans to release EMUI 13 then we can expect it to bring and adapt even more features from HarmonyOS. EMUI 13 will most likely bring features and other stuff from HarmonyOS. However, Huawei has not released any official statement in this regard.
What features do you expect in EMUI 13? Do you think Huawei should bring HarmonyOS to global markets or just bring EMUI based on Android? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
