To reset the Catroot2 folder, open the command prompt and run it as administrator. Now run the following command one by one and hit enter.

net stop cryptsvc
md %systemroot%\system32\catroot2.old
xcopy %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 %systemroot%\system32\catroot2.old /s

Now open the catroot folder in file manager by going to the following path: C:\Windows\System32\catroot2. Select all the content and files present there and delete them. Now open the command prompt again, type the following command again and hit Return.

net start cryptsvc

Method 8: Update Windows Defender’s Signature

To update Windows Defenders’ Signature, open the command prompt and type the following command and hit enter to run it.

“%PROGRAMFILES%\Windows Defender\MPCMDRUN.exe” -RemoveDefinitions -All

To update Windows Defender’s signatures, enter these two separate commands pressing Return after each:

“%PROGRAMFILES%\Windows Defender\MPCMDRUN.exe” -SignatureUpdate 
“%ProgramFiles%\Windows Defender\MPCMDRUN.exe” -SignatureUpdate -MMPC

Now close the command prompt and restart the Windows PC and check whether the issue got fixed for you or not.
