How to Fix Windows 11 Action Center Not Opening Issue

5 Ways to Fix the Windows 11 Action Center When It Won’t Open

1. Restart Windows Explorer

The easiest and best possible method to fix the Action center not working issue in Windows 11 is by restarting Windows Explorer. Most of the user’s issues will be fixed after restarting it only. To restart Windows Explorer, right-click on the Windows icon on Taskbar and click on Task Manager from the menu that appeared. Now search for Windows Explorer under the Processes tab. Now right-click on it and tap on restart. This will successfully restart Windows Explorer. Now restart the system and check if the issue got fixed for you or not!

2. Enable Action Center using Windows registry

If your Action center got disabled for some reason then you can try to enable or force enable it using the Windows registry. To begin, open Run by pressing the Windows+R shortcut key on your keyboard. Now type Regedit in Run and hit enter to open Registry Editor. Now copy-paste the following path in the address bar of the Registry editor.

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows

Now check if you have the Explorer key under the Windows section. If you don’t have it then try to create it by yourself. Now right-click on the Windows key and tap on New and then click on Key. Now you will get a new key, rename it as Explorer, now right-click on it, click on New >> DWORD (32-bit). Click on it and name this value as DisableNotificationCentre and done. Now right-click on it and set value data to 0 and press OK. Now restart the device and check whether the issue got fixed for you or not.

3. Repair Windows Apps

To repair the Windows application, first of all, search for PowerShell in the search box of the start menu and run it as administrator. Now copy-paste the following command and run both at the same time. This will repair the apps.

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -register “$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xml” -DisableDevelopmentMode}
Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

As soon as you finish restarting the system, restart your PC and check whether the issue got fixed for you or not?

4. Create a new user account

There may be chances that the problem is with your Microsoft account and in this case, you will have to change or create a new Microsoft account. To add a new Microsoft account, go to the Settings application, tap on Accounts, go to Sign-in options and now add a new Microsoft account. You can also add a local account or can make a new Microsoft account.

5. Enable Action Center via Local group policy editor

To begin, open Run by hitting the Windows+R shortcut on your keyboard, then type gpedit.msc and press OK to launch the Local Group Policy Editor. Now, navigate to the following directory. User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar. Scroll down to find the Remove Notifications and Action Center policy on the right-hand side. Double-click on it to open it. Now select the Disabled option and press the Apply button. Now restart your computer to see if the problem has been resolved.
