Windows 11 is currently available for testing for the last few days and can be tried out with many new functions and visual changes. In some cases, however, Microsoft does not want every function to be discovered now – this is also the case with the parallax effect on the lock screen. In the settings under the options for personalization and the lock screen, there is a point that you can activate, but which is not described. Behind this is a cool 3D effect for the lock screen.

The function was tested on a Surface tablet. Since you don’t need any special hardware here, the effect should also work with a laptop. If you activate this function, Microsoft creates a depth effect on the background image of the lock screen in Windows 11 when you move the device.

Will the same effect also be activated in Windows 11 for the background images?
Microsoft does not want us to try the function in Windows 11 because it has not yet been finally implemented. Users use the lock screen for a very short time and then basically hardly move the device so that the effect would not come into its own. With a background image with a parallax effect, it would look a lot different. We will then see what Microsoft is planning with the final implementation. Windows 11 should be ready in October and made available as a free update for Windows 10.
