Microsoft Edge has been regularly supplied with new and good functions since the switch to Chromium but has also received a very annoying addition in the recent past, which some of you have probably also noticed: If Microsoft Edge is not the standard browser and/or Microsoft Bing has not been set as the default search engine, a popup appears on the new tab page with regularity, which informs you of this fact and lets you make the appropriate changes with one click.
Fortunately, there is a workaround here too, as this behaviour is controlled by a flag within the browser. So if you want to get rid of the behaviour, you have to do the following:
- Calls up “edge://flags/” via the address bar.
- Searches for the entry “Show feature and workflow recommendations” or for # edge-show-feature-recommendations in the search bar.
- Set this flag to Disabled via the drop-down menu and restart Edge once.
After you’ve done that, the browser should be quiet in this regard.
