August 8, 2022 by Peter 10 Comments

We have already explained how you can get Windows 11 ISO file and create a bootable drive to install the latest OS on your PC. But Windows 11 will require a Microsoft account during the setup process. When you turn on your PC for the first time or after a new installation of Windows 11, you will see a series of screens inviting you to accept the license agreement. Connect to the Internet and perform basic Windows settings.

install Windows 11 without a Microsoft account?

The setup process requires a Microsoft account to continue and access Windows 11. You must sign in to a Microsoft account using a local user account or create one; otherwise, you get stuck there. So, do you want to bypass Microsoft account sign-in when installing Windows 11? Do you prefer to use a local user account? We will explain how to install Windows 11 with a local user account and without a Microsoft account. Follow the instructions below to install Windows 11 using a local account instead of a Microsoft account.

Steps to install Windows 11 Home without a Microsoft account

Step 1: Once you install Windows 11, your PC restarts and arrive at the Windows Out of Box Experience (OOBE).

Step 2: Follow the steps until you get to the “Add your account” screen, which prompts you to sign in to your Microsoft account or create one if you don’t have one.

Step 3: Now, you need to enter an email address that does not exist, for example, d@d.com, then click Next.

Step 4: Type any password, for example, 1, then click Connect.

Step 5: The “Sorry, an error has occurred” message will appear; Click on Next.

Step 6: Don’t sign with a Microsoft account and click Next.

Step 7: You can now create a local user account and continue with Windows 11 setup.

That’s it; You have installed Windows 11 OS with a local user account and without a Microsoft account.

Alternative Method: Disable Internet Connection

It will help if you disable your internet connection during installation.

Once you see “Let’s Connect You To A Network” during installation, enter “Shift” and “F10” on the keyboard at the same time.

bypass the internet connection

It will bring up the Command Prompt, where you have to execute the following command line:

taskkill /F /IM oobenetworkconnectionflow.exe

Now you will be able to enter local account information.

A local account is disconnected from Microsoft’s servers. It is specific to the computer where it is created. It gives you more privacy as your PC is not discoverable by external servers. However, you will miss out on several features made possible by Microsoft accounts.

So tired of Microsoft and its thinking that this is a better “experience” for its users. As a tech, each new O/S release seems to come with a host of new obstacles that makes it harder to install and administer systems. And news flash Microsoft – not everyone uses the internet…some of my clients need systems that are stand alone and not connected to the net.

    Try This:

    Select Join a Domain Account.
Put your Name and Select your 3 Questions answer.

Bang… This will create a local account.
