Microsoft released its new version of the Windows operating system, namely Windows 11, back in 2020. Windows 11 offers many changes over the regular Windows 10, like retouched icons, revamped the UI of the Windows, a new wallpaper-based accent colour picker and much more. The eligible Windows 10 users have already started receiving the Windows 11 update. We have an important update or news to share with the users who’re still sticking to Windows 10 for some reason.
What is Windows 10 22H2?
Windows 10 version 21H2 is now available through Windows Server Update Services. Microsft said that Windows 10 would get only one feature update per year. As the next Windows 10 release has been targeted for the second half of 2022, the new version is dubbed Windows 10 22H2.
The company earlier rolled out two feature updates once a year to Windows 10 users. But, now, after the announcement of the Windows 11 operating system, the company has changed its update policy. And from now on, Microsoft will roll out only one feature update once every year for both Windows 10 and Windows 11. The feature update is a major update rolled out to the Windows users introducing new features and changes, and the other was a small minor update, including general fixes and enhancements.
Also, the company’s primary focus will now be on Windows 11. And that can be seen as they didn’t add any significant features in the last few Feature updates of the Windows 10 OS.

Windows 10 22H2 Release Date
- The upcoming Windows 10 22H2 will likely be released in August 2022.
As for the rollout timeline, we don’t have any official announcement on it to date. But we expect the company to release the update around Q3 of each year. Also, it is worth mentioning that the company will provide software support to Windows 10 users till October 2025. After it, we might not see any Features or major updates for Windows 10.
To sum up, we strongly advise you to update your Windows PC to the most recent version of Windows 11 (If eligible). If your PC isn’t ready for the Windows 11 update, you can keep using it with Windows 10 until 2025, as long as you have sufficient software support. After that, you may need to buy a new computer or upgrade to Windows 11.
