Smartphones have been pushing the ceiling on specs to stay relevant in the competitive market. One of the main parameters that have turned out to be an important aspect is the RAM on the smartphone. Recently Lenovo has launched Legion Phone Duel 2 gaming phone with 18GB RAM. So, in addition to exploring industrial design, imaging, and battery life, some smartphone manufacturers often focus on storage specifications.
Today, ZTE’s Lu Qianhao, Director of Consumer Experience Department posted on Weibo that 20GB memory phones are not as smooth as Yyds (means “greatest of all time”). This suggests that ZTE is working on a 20GB RAM phone, which could be the first smartphone with the largest memory.
Key details of the upcoming 20GB memory phone are still uncertain. However, there are two possibilities:
(1) ZTE will support memory expansion technology, which can expand 18GB of memory to 20GB. It should be noted that OPPO Reno6 Pro can expand 12GB of memory to 19GB through memory expansion technology.
(2) ZTE’s upcoming smartphone will be equipped with 20GB of physical memory and does not require expansion.
At present, 18GB RAM has been mass-produced and commercialized in the smartphone industry. Now 16GB RAM has become the standard configuration of high-end flagships. It is expected that 20GB memory will not be too far away from mass production and commercial use.
